Our Mission
To bring glory to God by leading people to a personal, loving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Who We Are
Ellenwood Oaks Community Church first opened its doors in 2013 as a replant born from the faithful partnership of two local congregations—Austin Oaks Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Ellenwood. United by a shared vision for gospel ministry in the Ellenwood community, these churches came together to establish a new work rooted in biblical truth, loving fellowship, and a heart for reaching future generations.
Our Vision
We seek to become living servants of Christ in every thought, word and action. Furthermore, we seek to love each other as Christ loves the Church and to live each day in a way that strengthens our relationship with the Lord and each other.
As we grow in God's love together, our desire is that each one of us will become a more accurate reflection of Jesus so that each person we encounter in our daily lives will also encounter our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Our Beliefs
We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and therefore subscribe to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Below are a few highlighted beliefs that we hold to.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became fully human through the virgin birth, without forsaking His divinity. He lived a sinless life, perfectly showing us the heart and will of God. By His loving sacrifice on the cross, He redeemed His people from sin, and by His glorious resurrection, He conquered sin and death. Now exalted at the right hand of God, He reigns as our living Lord, dwells in His people, and will return in power and glory to bring His saving work to completion.
The Bible is God’s revealed Word, written by divinely inspired men and completely true and trustworthy. It has God as its author, salvation as its purpose, and Christ as its central focus. Scripture stands as the final authority for Christian faith, unity, and conduct, and provides the standard by which all beliefs and actions are judged.
Though originally innocent and free as God's special creation, mankind fell into sin through disobedience and rebellion, resulting in a obtaining a sinful and guilty nature shared by all people. Our sin deserves punishment and separation from God. Yet, He graciously provided a way to be forgiven and freed from sin in Jesus. Only repentance by turning away from sin and a commitment to follow Jesus and His commands, can restore people to fellowship with Him and fulfill His purpose.
Since sin has corrupted the whole person, salvation involves the redemption of the whole person, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus says that if you want to be saved from sin and death, then you must do two things: repent of your sins and believe in Him. This means that one continually turns away from the willful and intentional sin in life, (not perfectionism), and daily following Jesus by faithfully living life in a way that pleases Him.
